Cherry is a moody, atmospheric, and emotionally-charged short film that begins in the early hours after a party in the hills of Los Angeles. Most people have gone home, or like Layla— fallen asleep on the couch. She wakes from what seems like a nightmare and quickly steps out for some air. What follows is a slow, unexpected connection that unfolds over a shared pack of American Spirits.

Written by Karsu Nalbantoglu, so it of course has a touch of experimentalism. A visual love letter to chance encounters, Cherry, brings to life those unexpectedly intimate conversations you can have with a stranger that end up having the power to create everlasting impressions on your own story. While uplifting at times, this film heavily explores themes of loss, grief and finding closure in what may seem to be the most unanticipated people and places.
